Modern Warfare 3 Storyline
The following was taken from Kotaku. Please be warned that this contains spoilers on Modern Warfare 3.
Modern Warfare 3 opens as Modern Warfare 2 closed: The United States under siege by Russian forces, ultranationalist Vladimir Makarov on the loose, Captain John “Soap” MacTavish and Captain John Price wounded and on the run with the Russian informant known as Nikolai.
Fleeing to a safehouse in Dharmasala, India, the three are attacked by Makarov’s men. In this firefight players take on the role of Yuri, a loyalist who works for Nikolai. Their safehouse compromised, the group flee the area in a helicopter.
The game then cuts to Manhattan where Russia is launching an attack on the city from a fleet of ships parked in the Hudson River. (It appears the famous U.S.S. Intrepid may be destroyed.) The U.S. calls in Delta Force to repel the attack. You take on the role of Frost, a Delta Force operative under the command of Sandman. Your goal is to take out a jamming tower on top of the New York Stock Exchange to open the area for a U.S. counterattack.
Following the mission, Delta flies out of the city on a Blackhawk, gunning down enemy choppers as they make their way to the harbor where they have to infiltrate and take down a Russian sub which is coordinating the attack.
As the New York missions wrap up the game jumps forward in time half a year, thrusting players into the role of a Russian agent tasked with protecting the president of Russia as he flies to sign a peace treaty with the U.S. The plane is attacked by hijackers mid-air who attempt to kidnap the president and his daughter. The daughter manages to escape. The president of Russia in hand, Makarov vows to prevent a peace treaty by getting the launch codes out of the president and launching an attack against the U.S.
The game then returns us to Price, Soap and Yuri, now in Africa in a search for Makarov. They meet with a local South African arms dealer who tells them about a shipment of chemical weapons that Makarov is trying to buy. The group make their way to Sierra Leone to secure the weapons from African militia.
Next, players take on the role of an SAS operative who is tasked with stopping a delivery of weapons of mass destruction at a London dockyard. A gun battle ensues, and the agents are chased through the London subway. The mission culminates with a series of unmarked trucks exploding in front of the house of Parliament, releasing a deadly chemical agent.
Several other European cities and military bases are hit by similar terrorist attacks backed by Russia, and the death toll rises to the tens of thousands. The series of chemical attacks opens the door for a Russian military blitz strikes across the continent.
Price discovers that the South African arms dealer who tipped them off about the chemical weapons deceived them and travels to Somalia to find the man and interrogate him. Through the arms dealer, Price discovers that Makarov’s right hand man, Volk, is hiding out in Paris.
The game’s attention next shifts to Hamburg, Germany where players take on the role of a U.S. tank gunner fighting to push back a Russian advance backed by armored divisions.
As Hamburg falls, the game shifts us back to the story of Price and his crew. Now in Paris, players control Delta Force operative Frost who, with the help of the French special forces, leads an assault on Volk’s location in the underground catacombs of the city. Next, players take to the sky supporting Frost’s ground movements as a gunner in an AC-130.
After capturing and interrogating Volk, Frost learns that Makarov has a meeting in a Prague hotel. Players control Yuri as he and Soap slip into the Russian-controlled city and set-up an ambush for Makarov in a church bell tower. Makarov somehow catches wind of the trap and escapes. Soap, Yuri and Price then have to fight their way out of the city.
Yuri leads the team to one of Makarov’s headquarters in the Czech mountains and the group infiltrates the location, looking for clues. They discover that the ultranationlist has the president and is trying to get the codes out of him. Makarov has also discovered the location of the Russian president’s daughter. The group move out to Berlin to try and prevent her kidnapping. Playing as Frost, gamers must find the daughter and protect her, while making their way through war-torn Berlin. The daughter, however, is captured and flown away.
Frost next makes his way to the Kremlin where a task force of operatives attack and free the hostages, but Makarov manages to escape again.
The game’s final mission occurs in Dubai, where Yuri, Price and Sandman launch an assault on a heavily guarded hotel, eventually finding Makarov and, yes, finally killing him.
It also appears that the game may also include a post-credits level that features the burning of Washington, D. C.
The stage seems set for a passing of the torch: from player-controlled members of Task Force 141 to the new characters from Delta Force.

It’s all true, Soap falls out of the church tower and Yuri manages to be fine, and when they do get to a safehouse, Soap finally bleeds out on a table and dies. Then Price still doesn’t die, but in the end kills Makarov atop a hotel Atrium.

No zombies! I love zombies but treyarch makes zombies for world at war and black ops. Infinity ward makes modern warfare 1 & 2. And like we know.. MW2 has spec ops mode. That’s it’s mode like black ops has zombies. So Modern Warfare 3 has got some kind of spec ops mode. Like prolly 100 diff 2 to 6 player missions or they can make a wave mode like where you have to hold out in a building and defend from enemys just like in MW2′s hold off mission.

Do you even know where India and Afghanistan is? They aren’t that far away. Also, have you ever heard of something called Petrol/Gasoline? You put it in vehicles and it makes them go! Why don’t you start researching some stuff on Wikipeida, you simpleton?
It IS a pity about Foaley, Ramirez and Dunn but we can’t have it all. Even the storyline is EPIC! This would probably be pretty accurate if there was a Third World War. Total destruction. Remember in MW2 the nuclear weapon fired above Washington D.C.? I bet it will end with something like that.

wait just wondering does soap die cause in the final mission it’s yuri, price and sandman. so what happens to soap and frost.

Allright, umm for an individual game this story could do well, but I really hope that someone decided to leak something false because this story is not good enough to be the third game in the biggest franchise is Entertainment history. Not videogames, but entertainment in general. Honestly, I really can’t believe that infinity ward/activision or whoever came up with the idea to leave the dunn/foley/ramirez going to moscow cliffhanger would not include that in the following modern warfare. another thing, the presidents daughter? that seems a little bit fairy-taleish. Well, to conclude, maybe it was the way this article was written but I still am not satisfied with this being the story of the ,what I think will be, the biggest game in history.

I don’t really see the big point with Ramierez, Dunne or Foley, sure they were pretty awesome characters but they weren’t the best. In my opinion Gaz and Ghost were some of the best characters and they shouldn’t have been killed off, but this game looks from the trailers i have seen and sounds GREAT. But i don’t think I’m going to bother with the Campaign, I’m just going to head straight to multiplayer to see what idiots have hacked it straight away

I have a feeling that Ghost is a traitor. Remember in the comics, Shepherd promoted him in the last issue? and remember in one of the missions beginning he complains why they have to wear this fire proof vest? Think about it and tell me your opinion.
Or if he isn’t a traitor there must be a way he survived. Roach is 101% dead. No coming back u cockroach. Also I hope theres a prequel mission where u play as toad or archer who were the snipers at the beginning of loose ends looking for Ghost and Roach. who after shepherd left the area after betraying T141, you get to play as either toad or archer (possibly Toad) and they finish the remaining Shadow Company and Makarovs men in the area managing to rescue Ghost.
Got a point there. Btw in the trailer that shows all 4 places in one trailer (NY, UK, France, Germany) when Makarov quotes: just the will of a single man, it shows a man that looks just like Ghost.

i think had gaz survived his cod4 shot they may have installed a metal plate in his head therefore when shephard shot him it may have hit the metal plate, injuring him but not killing him.

I can disprove that theory almost instantly, Gaz and Ghost are two different people, and they were BOTH killed by head shots near the end of each. Oh, and one of them was SET ON FIRE, so I don’t think any of them survived.

Ghost was not given a headshot by Shepard, when herolls over, you get a 360 degree view of Ghost’s head, with NO head wounds. Also in the launch trailer for MW3 there is a soldier that has Ghosts headset and orange glasses with Gaz’s cap. It shows this before an SAS soldier mps through a window with Price in a chopper, Gaz/ Ghost is the left

I just hope ghost is alive and not a frakken traitor and if soap or price or ghost
die it would suck the big hairy meatball. I know it seems unlikely that
Ghost could have survived being shot and set on fire, but if they were
wearing fireproof vests and the rest of the team attacked the shadow company
just when the cinematic ended, they could have saved ghost AND roach. I don’t know
I’m just saying its possible.

Ghost was shot in the shoulder or somewhere near the stomach (not the head). There is a blood stain on his backside when he is being tossed into the ditch. But yeah, he is “dead” according to Price. But well, we shall see if he is alive or not when the game is out. 20 dollars says he’s dead!!! Any takers?Who wants to make that bet? Im kidding, hope he is “alive”;)

gaz was shot in the back of the head it wasnt a head shot as it skimmed the back of the head so he has to holes in his head if you look at the back of ghosts mask there is two holes an entering and exiting the exiting being bigger also ghost got shot in the shoulder and exit above stomach he was wearing bullet proof jacket and when they got burned he must have been uncouncious so they thought he was dead as roach was moving thats why they put the petrol over him but not ghost so ghost was not burnt and in two mw3 trailers it says in one the will of a single man and it shows ghost and in redemption trailer when scoped in on makarov you see someone facing away from the cope they have a mask and headset only ghost has and hes facing away so every time you see him hes facing away infinity ward are hiding him

Soap does die in MW3 during one of the missions. Yuri ends up being killed by Makarov in the final mission, right before Price manages to kill Makarov by hanging him

The sniper team, Toad and Archer, may have actually saved Ghost/Roach(Probably not Roach..) But when the player returns to playing as Soap, how does Price learn that Shepherd is cleaning house? Perhaps the sniper team told him. If that’s what it is, then there’s no doubt that they would’ve tried to help Ghost/Roach.

in 2013 there will be another call of duty for sure n i have a great idea of what its gonna be(think of this as a storyline guys)
In mw4(for example) u start dirrectly after mw3 ended: price calls up nikolai for evac(one hour later) they get shot down and they esume that its russians, but no!!! they get shot down in the order of ghost. Now im gonna explane why i think this would be good: ghost wasn t picked up later by the brits and he was betrayd by the americans so he is ordering an assassination on price n as he thinks soap(allready dead) but he fails. then u take on the role of nikolai. u nad price have to fight ur way to a chopper. When accomplished, u ll have to fly the chopper as nikolai and gun down the remaining enemies in the area. u fly away .
THEN MY FRIENDS the game switches to washington where u take on the role as ramirez where you, dunn, foley and his squad are in their way to moscow. when u arive ur searching the area, but everybody is dead. foley calls up overlord and confirms that moscow is cleared by the delta force(all gone) then they are ambushed by a small army of russians and are capsured n taken to their base. there, ramirez takes out his knife, takes out the guard, grabs his weapon. before u r comprimised, u shoot the lock of the armory and the squad fights their way out to a safe disance where they call for evac. the game switches to price n nikolai who r in a hurry.
they r getting this threat message by ghost and he is threating to blow up the whole of the west side of the U.S.A if they do not do as ordered by ghost. He orderes price to call up the the 75. ranger regiment sgt. foley to surender. if not ghost will accomplish the biggest mass murder in human history.

well this is a kind of a good idea but i don’t think it will be interesting but i like to keep it against IRAN AND FRIENDS this time i made it alot better than before.
WW3 is on and iran is taking advantage of the war by aquiring new tech and nukes and using other weapons from dead soldiers then they start and invasion ”liberating” other countries from USA or from the weakend russians from the end of the war and they keep on expanding till they reach india,china,europe,and africa including parts of russia.the time takes place in 2017 and the guys you’ll be working in the german military and the french SAS marine and the rangers as in hunter 2_1 and a sweet surprise…RUSSIA!!!!!and some others.you’ll be training in the fields of germany then after u finished the enemy will start an airstrike and the paratroopers will be coming down and then u will notice that there r even more coming from the east and u’ll will inform the general the he will order a retreat and it will be like the D.C. mission but without the emp and u will be ordering and anti_air tand to kill off infantry and aircrafts and u will later retreat to a german city.then u wil be in the russian army fortifying the trenches that was made by russia to repel the germans in 1943 but now u’ll be repelling iranians after a great victory u’ll be playing americans in alska and then u’ll find a superweapon identical to the XB_0 (from ace combat 0)that belong to Iran and then…there is too much to explain.i hope the modern warfare producers read this and continue this MW4

Ok so i think makarov knew shepard was gonna betray tf141 so he wanted ghost to survive so he hooked him up and made it so he would live and i think gaz is ghost trying to find out info on makarovs enemies and kill them eventually. Also another opinion ghost may actually be spying on makarov and he is gaz when hes with the good guys and hes actualy a good guy and maybe they knew about shepards plan to kill them and they couldn’t save roach so they saved ghost and i think but i definentley dont think hes dead and i think him and gaz are the same people spying on someone for someone also they kid knapped the presidents daughter because they need someone to come get her then they can figure out what the rescures plans are also if you slow it down you can that ghost is shot right between his collar bone and shoulder blade just slow it down on the computer and you will see and he is clearly wearing a fire proof vest because at the end the fire on him is not as big as it is on roach and the one guy only poors gas on roach not ghost so i think ghost did work for makarov and i think he might betray makarov in this one and sandman is mw2 he is in the level called hornets nest and he is one of the survivors also if people think shepard is back there wrong because almost the whole knife was in his i witch could it his brain and nikoial can make it from afgan to india because heli’s fly really fast and they have an okay fuel tank and he was in a black hawk and most heli’s have extra fuel for emergencys so dont doubt that lol. Now back on the ghost thing if you watch real close in the trailer you will get a glimpse of him and if you go in spectator mode on the terminal in mw2 and go in the burger shot there is a bow with soaps face and makarovs and ghosts face and sandman. Plus its inmate that makarov dies most likely soap. Also for those who want to know what new weapons there are go mw3.com and it will say it some where on the site and i am sorry for writing about this after it came out but i dont have yet and this is meant for the people who dont have it and please dont spoil it for the people who do not have it yet if you wanna spoil it plz do it on a defferent site sorry to be bossy but i really dont want anyone to spoil it for me and the others who have not played it.
Here what i think mw4 will be about——————————-Okay so its sandman price and nikoail and ghost but i think the shadow company will be back and after them again because i dont think they all got wiped out and i think any remaining russians will team up with them and so will the indian arms dealers gang will team up and try to take out ghost and price while sandman and nikoali are being hunted down by america because america thinks they betrayed them because the shadow company stes them up at the begging of mw4 and they all meet up out numbered by thousands and shadow company and etc are fighting against america and ghost price and nikoali and america is fighting them and trying to get the good guys witch is price sandman and ghost and nikoali and threw all the comtion they take a plan and fly to france where they think they will be safe but guess whos there searching for them dunn ramirez and foley and some other guys are they trying to find them along with some cia opertives but the good guys mange to convince the cia goons that they were set up and the cia opertives betray america and join the good guys and the new guys take them to a speacial cia base they made while they were in france where they should be safe but then the french army finds out about them being the terrorist who lead the last war in france go on the hunt for them but they are still being ste up and shadow company is trying to get as many allies as they can and they become allies with america and france and they hunt the good guys down and back in the base in france ramirez and dunn and foley and the others are sent back home by the french and price here one of the cia operatives trying to comprimise them but price kills but the cia guys and they all agree not to trust any outsiders unless there old friends and guess who come back kamarov and he joins the good guys and they trust him and he really is good but kamarov brings some other old friends like mac millian arem barton walcroft and frost and worm so then kamarov and price and barton and frost go on a mission to get better weapons and supplies. So after they get there stuff witch they lost barton on that mission and assault a shadow company base and kill of the rest of the russians and most of the shadow comapany but the indians are still there and they almost lost frost but he survived back at the base they call the french ambassitor up and they try to reason with them and tell them that it was makarovs men and the french beleives them and they provide them with supplies and more men and they got take out the rest of the gang of the arms dealer and after that the french tell the americans to back off and they go to war but eventually the good guys get there protection and the french and americans make a treaty and all the good guys are protected buy the cia and the french and they are in the witness protection program and all of the suden they go cold and arent heard from ever again until mw5

My own plot for Modern Warfare 4.
Instead of an immediate Sequel, it will be a Prequel. Remember in the mission Operation Kingfish? I don’t think that follows the story because if Price was present after the events of MW1, then soap would have returned his pistol to him by then and not the Gulag.
My own possible plot for MW4. There will be another Antagonist instead of Makarov to take place before the events of MW2. You shall Control Soap, Roach and perhaps Cpt MacMillan. During the campaign it involves Soap with his new crew, Roach and ghost doing certain missions against a Terrorist from South-East Asia and missions will start from the UK to Japan, to the Western side of the US and down to Indonesia. Cpt Macmillan will be a playable character in a mission and Roach will be playable in a few missions as well. In the finale, Soap is about to be shot by the Antagonist when Roach drives a car into him. yeah yeah my own sort of plot.
MW5 and MW6 will probably be sequels to MW3 and it will involve North Korea, China, Yemen and Central America. This time you play as Marcus Burns with Wallcroft as your leader and you find another Antagonist that threatens to end world power with one deadly weapon. An arrested Price is released to help them. in the American campaign, you play as frost and ramirez once again and one of them lives till the end.
Since the first Trilogy was good I hope the 2nd Trilogy is 2x better.

I loved CoD: MW3. GOD I HATE that Yuri dies and Soap and Kamorav. those r the only people from the first MW that where still alive except for Price and Nikolai. But when Price beats the Shit out of Makorav straggles him a little then ties a nuse around Makroavs neck then shoves him through the glass roof is Awesome!!!! MAKORAV DESERVED THAT FOR KILLING SOAP AND KAMORAV AND YURI, YURI WAS THE BEST HE DIDNT GET HES REVENGE EITHER THAT SUCKS!!!!!! well i think they should add some Asian countries like Iran,Pakistan,India and china , in modern warfare 4 i would like to see world war 3

I hope u guys not thinkin about becoming a game developer cause u are comming up with hopeless ideas… Umer, the only thing mw4 would do to the community is that it will bore the f*ckin hell out of them. cod comes out amazing games every year, but never anything new. its never a diffrent experience, its just new stuff in the same old game type(IW no disrespect, your amazing). So I d like to see co-operation between for example: EA, DICE, INFINATY WARD, SLEDGE HAMMER, RAVEN GAMES/SOFTWARE, TREYARCH. ALL THESE TOGETHER TO MAKE ONe HUGE, BAD ASS FIRST PERSON SHOOTER. that would might be for example COD 10 right after black ops 2. sandman and 2 other ppl were left to die in the mines… leaving price and yuri, price and yuri den head out to kill makarov once and for all. through the mission yuri got pierced by a big nail. price and makarov fight on a helicopter which crashed, makarov picks up a gun and yuri comes to the rescue.makarov killed yuri but then price hanged makarov with a cable

That’s not how the story ends!
It ends when Sandman, Frost, Truck and Grinch die in the collapsing mine and when the President, Price and Yuri escape. Then, Yuri and Price launch a final mission when you play as Price, where while taking down a chopper, Yuri gets stabbed in the chest with broken glass in a collapsing elevator, and then Price runs to Makarov’s chopper and crashes it. Then Yuri tries to shoot down Makarov (IDK how me’s able to survive and come back) and then Price hangs him with jumper cables to get revenge for soap and Yuri.
